Arterburn, Jeffrey B. Regent's Professor

Positions

My research program embraces the field of synthetic medicinal, and chemical biology, focusing on the development of small molecular probes, imaging agents, anticancer and antiviral drugs. I have demonstrated a strong record of successful contributions within multi-disciplinary drug discovery research teams.  I have served continuously as the PD/PI of the New Mexico IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence since initiation of the program in New Mexico as the NM-BRIN in 2001. The NM-INBRE connects the institutions of higher education with a focus on biomedical and community-based research involving faculty and students. In my capacity as PD/PI, I hold responsibility for leading the NM-INBRE program as a collaborative effort of all the parties, with primary responsibility for funding and administration of the program. I am strongly committed to the mentoring and professional development of early career faculty whose research programs are focused on the biomedical sciences. I also advocate for beneficial interactions and partnerships across the IDeA program, and I am a member of the Steering Committee for the Mountain West Consortium for Clinical Translational Research that involves the 7 Western IDeA States (AK, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, WY) and the University of New Mexico Clinical & Translational Science Center.
